Our cacao begins with people — real farmers who steward the land with care, knowledge, and patience. Every bean in your block comes from smallholder growers who farm with regenerative methods, respect ancestral traditions, and believe in honest exchange. We work directly with them — no middlemen, no exploitation. Just hard work, fair pay, and a shared belief in sovereignty.
Santander
Marlon and Paola—a Colombian-Argentinian couple and our original permaculture teachers—are a big reason Bitcoin Beans exists today. They planted powerful seeds in our hearts seven years ago when we began sharing community life together in the mountains of Santander. Their two-hectare farm is a majestic blend of cacao, coffee, and permaculture wisdom, nestled high in the Colombian Andes. With years of experience working with medicinal plants and tending to the Earth, they embody harmony with nature—and their cacao reflects it. Silky smooth, deeply grounding, and rich in spirit, it's a cacao like no other. One of our favourites in the world. And yes—they love Bitcoin too.
Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta
Oscar and Julie of Tagbi Cacao are not only partners of Bitcoin Beans, they are also dear friends and neighbors here in the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, on Colombia's Caribbean coast. Together, they are the devoted caretakers of a magical two-hectare farm that overflows with life and love.
From the moment we met them three years ago, we were struck by their dedication and devotion — to the Earth, to cacao, and to living in harmony with both. Their passion is contagious. Every visit to their home leaves us with a renewed sense of inspiration and motivation.
Oscar has worked with cacao for more than 15 years and is widely recognized as a true master in the field. He has been a steady guide on our own journey. Julie brings her own unique energy and creativity, making their joint work a genuine expression of love and artistry.
The cacao they cultivate is exceptional — rich in flavor, rooted in care, and infused with the same love they so generously share with everyone in the village. It is an honor to work alongside them, to witness their proof of work, and to capture and preserve their time and energy in the soundest money humanity has ever known.
